While YMMV - the following might help to get the portal.connect.cps.edu to work on your Mac
Tested as working on 04/20/17 by Adam
- macOS version 10.11.6
- Java version 8.101 (download here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0KpXroPfe_wUWZIWV91WmxHWTA )
- Firefox ESR version 45.8.0 (download here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0KpXroPfe_wNmpERnB1dGFCTG8 )
Troubleshooting
- If you have Java version higher than 8.101 you'll need to uninstall the newer version using these commands:
sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefPane
sudo rm -fr ~/Library/Application\ Support/Java
Reference: https://java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml
- You'll, unfortunately, need to consider turn off the options to run updates when prompted using the "Later" and "Skip"
- You still need to choose Run and Allow when prompted
Known issues:
- Java version 8.131 results in Java not loading on the portal.connect.cps.edu page
- Firefox non ESR versions started blocking Java in March 2017
- This won't allow access to the Native Apps that require the full VPN client - simply the proxy links
